Description
Had the opportunity to photograph this beautiful African Grey Parrot that is the pampered pet of a friend of mine. I love her beautiful overall grey feathers and striking red tail feathers. She has white skin around her yellow eye ane a hint of blue around her eye and in the feathers surrounding her white skin. (Her tail feathers are not captured in this shot) The back ground is completly covered in and olive greet texture.
Wikipedia........The African Grey Parrot (Psittacus erithacus), also known as the Grey Parrot, is a medium-sized parrot found in the primary and secondary rainforest of West and Central Africa. Experts regard it as one of the most intelligent birds in the world. They feed primarily on palm nuts, seeds, fruits, and leafy matter, but have also been observed eating snails. Their overall gentle nature and their inclination and ability to mimic speech have made them popular pets, which has led many to be captured from the wild and sold into the pet trade. The African Grey parrot is listed on CITES appendix II, which restricts trade of wild-caught species because wild populations can not sustain trapping for the pet trade.

Beautiful image, Debbie! Two of these live in my house, a female, Echo, and a male, Bogie. Smart and delightful birds, and very loving. Each have a portrait in my portfolio, and I plan on more. fav
