Description
Beautiful old barn sitting just off the road. My son was driving and unwilling to stop, so I had to do a drive by shooting. It was always such a warm welcome site to see that it is not only still being used by a family, but also to see that it is being maintained. Wonderful for any wall in your home or office or as any of the other great products sold on this site. Many more wonderful works can be found in my various galleries, from photographs and photoart to digital creations and abstracts. Thanks for browsing, commenting and most of all for any purchases. (Early in American history, basically three barn styles were used: the Pennsylvania Dutch, Jamestown colonists barns, and barns of New England, such as the saltbox. Differences resulted from availability of building materials and individual builders quirks............Some barns were built for specific purposes: horse breeding, dairy farming, cattle feeding, drying tobacco and livery barns. As the westward migration gained strength, barns in the Midwest and West developed their own style. Although they echoed Eastern styles, the Western barn, Prairie barns and Pennsylvania Standard reflected the rancher s different needs............Added to those were unique entries, such as the variant of the Pennsylvania standard called the Yankee version and the round barn.).............(This is only the first paraghraph in an online artical. There is far to much information to post here. If you would like to read the whole artical, please visit this web address www.farmcollector.com/Farm-life/Proud-Survivors.aspx )
